GE Science Deconstructed

Feeling happy Bill Gates has decided to spend his billions on saving the world? Isn’t Bill the ultimate good guy? Well, maybe, and maybe not.

Since around 2008 Bill Gates has teemed up with Monsanto to bring the ‘Green Revolution’, (GE crops and seeds) so effective (at creating debt traps but not so effective at increasing yields or farmer wealth) in India, to the teeming starving masses of Africa where supposed yields and profitability for farmers will finally help them break out of the poverty trap and provide food for the people.

Sounds great, but is it?

According to the UK’s Daily Mail, approximately 125,000 Indian farmers suicided from 1995 to 2008 due to spiralling debt, as crops failed and they had to buy more of Monsanto’s Round-Up-ready seeds and fertilisers to recoup their previous investment.

This crisis was branded GM Genocide by anti GE campaigners and, according to the Indian Government, in 2008 a further 1000 farmers a month were suiciding leaving their families in eternal debt.

Companies such as Organic India have spent years providing agricultural alternatives and rebuilding communities devastated by the GE debt burden.

This human catastrophe has attracted many high profile supporters, including Prince Charles, who claimed, via video link to a conference in Delhi, that the issue of GM had become a ‘global moral question’ and the time had come to end its unstoppable march.

Prince Charles infuriated bio-tech leaders and politicians by condemning ‘the truly appalling and tragic rate of small farmer suicides in India, stemming… from the failure of many GM crop varieties‘.

So the experiment in India has clearly failed, so why does Bill Gates want to expand this into Africa?

Is it because he wants to save the world by doing the right thing, or has he simply entered into a business partnership with Monsanto?

Watch this talk (link below) given by Jeffrey Smith and get a grasp on the issues associated with GE food production, from a health as well as an environmental perspective, and see what you can do about it. In this very interesting talk,

Smith discusses the science of GE food production and the corruption of the supervisory (US) govt bodies that are meant to regulate the production of anything that may adversely impact the health of consumers but whose head offices seem to have a revolving door connecting with Monsanto.

While this talk is about the US where GE foods are more prevalent than in Australia, it is nevertheless still relevant.

Jeffrey M. Smith, author of the #1 GMO bestseller Seeds of Deception, and Genetic Roulette, entertains a wildly appreciative audience with shocking facts about how genetically modified organisms (GMOs) entered our lives.

Smith links GMO to toxins, allergies, infertility, infant mortality, immune dysfunction, stunted growth, and death. Whistleblowers were fired, threatened, and gagged, and warnings by FDA scientists were ignored.
